The 2014 Hydro-Turf Pro Watercross Tour to Make a Splash (Or Two) at Sparks Marina

Starting at 9:00 AM on Saturday, June 28, the Pro Watercross Tour will be providing a weekend full of screaming engines and strong wakes at the Sparks Marina. Deemed as the “NASCAR of Watercross,” this high-adrenaline sport will leave spectators screaming as racers reach top speeds of 90 mph while racing around buoyed courses!

sparks_1The US Open of Watercross is the third stop on the Hydro-Turf Pro Watercross Tour. Top USA and International competitors and race teams will be in attendance.  These riders will utilize some of the most advanced equipment and technology, and engage in a fierce battle of skill, technology and innovation on and off the water.

When the race is set, heavily modified watercrafts and their daring drivers will wait anxiously in the side-by-side gates. Upon command, the half-machine/half-man cyborgs will jolt to life as the opening gates release the racers to scream past the crowd at racing speeds of up to 90 miles per hour. High adrenaline leave the ringing memory of a great experience in your ear.

Witness the potential for history to be made on June 28, as the title for Guinness World Records “Most Consecutive Back Flips on a Personal Watercraft” will be attempted.  This trick-filled day will surely leave any age in awe.

US Open of Watercross

Sparks Marina will be the host site of the 2013 US Open of Watercross, June 29-30, 2013.

This will be 8th annual US Open of Watercross which has traveled from coast to coast bringing the best watercross riders throughout the USA and drawing competitors from all over the world, including Australia, Columbia, Kuwait, and Indonesia. These competitors will be vying for the prestigious title of the Sparks US Open of Watercross Champion and winning means earning a place in watercross history, this internationally recognized event will be one of the highest paid events in the country.

The Sparks US Open of Watercross is expected to draw one of the largest gatherings of competitors in the country; participants in pursuit of the US Open title and a cash purse of over $12,000.

On Saturday and Sunday, the premier watercross classes will begin at 11 am to 2pm, these classes will showcase the pro riders in each class. Each of premier classes on Sunday will be followed by awards, interviews and autograph sessions.

UWP would like to welcome the folks from  Jetavation Inc. to the Sparks US Open of Watercross on June 29-30 at the Sparks Marina Park.

The Jetovator has the capability of flying up to 30 feet in the air and diving down 10 feet below the water. You can fly at speeds of up to 25 mph and can perform aerial stunts such as back flips! The Suspension Landing Gear option allows experienced Jetovator operators to take off from, and land on, docks or boats decks. See the live demo right after freestyle on Saturday and Sunday!

Sparks Xtreme Beach Sports Festival

June 30-July 1

060212-215The Sparks Marina Park, is the location of the EVP Volleyball Tour and the UWP Watercross Tour, the first time these combined events will be visiting the west coast!

Both tours are the largest of their kind in the country with hundreds of All-American male and female athletes expected to compete.

Watch great beach pro volleyball action on the shore, and handle bar-to-handle bar race action on the lake.

Spectator admission is FREE to all events.

EVP Pro Beach Volleyball

Two-person teams compete for a $5,000 purse starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30.

  • A clinic with EVP pros starts at 11 a.m.
  • Semi-final games start at 3:30 p.m.
  • The finals start at 5 p.m.
