FREE Fishing Day

Go Fishing… Get Hooked! Saturday, June 8, 2013, is Nevada’s Free Fishing Day!

During our annual Free Fishing Day, anglers may fish in any public fishing water in the state without needing a fishing license or trout stamp.*

Events

Sparks Marina is hosting a special event for kids, offering commemorative T-shirts, fishing poles, face painting, hot dogs and more (for FREE)! At Idlewild Park, kids are encouraged to bring their own poles, however 300 poles will be available on a first come first served basis. Both events go from 7 to 11 a.m.

Sparks Farmers’ Market Sweetens Summer

Lemons, tomatoes and pears… o my! The 2013 Sparks Farmers’ Market is back, every Thursday, on Victorian Avenue, directly in front of John Ascuaga’s Nugget.

Each week of the Farmer’s Market offers new themes, community group involvement, exciting stage music and street performers. The event takes place every Thursday evening, June 6 – August 22, 2013 (except July 7 and August 8) from 3:00pm to 8:00pm.

Shoppers will be able to buy fresh fruits and vegetables directly from local and regional farmers, along with items from various vendors, and try out food from some of our local food trucks.

There will also be a Kids’ Area, complete with fun and educational activities for children, on the plaza near the movie theater. The Sparks Farmers’ Market is a family-friendly event.

Sparks Revs Up for Street Vibrations Spring Rally

Get ready for the rumble – Street Vibrations Spring Rally is rolling into Sparks, June 7-9!

Fun for the Entire Family

Street Vibrations® Spring Rally is free to the public.  Motorcycle participants pay a fee to ride in poker runs and walks, be involved in bike games, attend VIP parties, receive an official rally shirt and ride pin and enjoy premium secured bike parking.

Crowd pleasing live entertainment; including, arm wrestling competitions,  slow races and thrilling motorcycle stunt shows are planned throughout the three-day event.

Globe of Death

John Stotts exhibits unbelievable speed and controlled balance in his Globe of Death.

Live Entertainment

Enjoy a variety of bands performing a wide spectrum of music throughout the event. You’ll find contemporary rock from Adrenalin, southern rock from Rockin’ Down the Highway, non-stop blues from Jason King and the Rick Hammond Blues Band and biker rock ‘n roll from Nevada Hazzurd. John Ascuaga’s Nugget Celebrity Showroom will host the Alan Parsons Live Project, Sat., June 8 at 9 p.m. Tickets are $39. This British rock band known for “Eye in the Sky” and “Games People Play” puts on a great show.

Examine Rolling Rembrandts

The Saturday Ride-in Show during Street Vibrations® Spring Rally from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. allows participants to showcase their bikes.  The show also provides motorcycle enthusiasts with a chance to check out the amazing artwork, chrome and customization on some of the finest bikes in the West.

Special Event Locations

Most Street Vibrations® Spring Rally event activity will start, end or take place entirely on the West Events Plaza at the Nugget, but the Rally has expanded to include some additional locations.

Chester’s Reno Harley-Davidson is an official Street Vibrations® Spring Rally Venue and the Market Street dealership will be hopping throughout the weekend with live entertainment and great deals.

Virginia City will provide VIP parking, host live entertainment and sponsor a poker walk for Street Vibrations® Spring Rally participants.

Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s New Gateway – Now Open

The Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s impressive makeover continues…

First the ticketing area, then the baggage claim, and now the Reno-Tahoe International Airport will unveil its new security checkpoint and shopping/dining area. The $27 million in improvements embraces the natural look and feel of the Sierra Mountains.

Passengers will experience a new way to fly with the opening of the Security Checkpoint on the first floor, additional queuing and screening lanes, and new state-of-the-art technology.  Once through security, passengers will be able to flow from one concourse to another and enjoy a whole new safer and secure passenger experience.

The new Food Court will be built in a dramatic new airport venue on the second floor, just past the escalators.  The post-security, 21,000 square foot addition will feature 18-foot ceilings and windows looking out over the tarmac.  Passengers will dine with a panoramic view of arriving and departing aircraft against a desert mountain backdrop.

From outdoor clothing, to high tech electronic items, customers will find a wider selection of stores and products.

Easter Egg Hunt and Festivities at Northstar

Celebrate the Easter holiday on the slopes with festive activities for all ages. There will be an egg hunt across the Village at Northstar starting at 10:30 a.m. The Easter Bunny himself will be posing for photo opportunities around the rink in the Village and skiing on the mountain!

Golden Eggs will be spread between the mountain and in the village. These eggs will be filled with a ticket that you will need to take to season pass to redeem for prize. A variety of prizes from Maui Jim, Petra, Mikuni, Rubicon Pizza, Villager Candle, California Jean Bar, Apex Adventure, and many more will be up for grabs!

Scheels Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt

Answer the Easter Egg Clues to make your way around the store and get candy! Please meet under the Scheels Awning. Ferris Wheel rides will be FREE during the Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt.
