2012 Expedition Man Endurance Festival
The inaugural Expedition Man Endurance Festival, August 25, is an ultra-long relay and Aqua Bike triathlon, simultaneously. The USA Triathlon-sanctioned event will traverse 140.6 miles through the communities of Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Washoe Valley, Reno and Sparks, and highlight the breathtaking and iconic Northern Nevada scenery.
The unique course starts swimmers at Zephyr Cove Resort in the beautiful southern part of South Lake Tahoe, NV (2.4 miles or 1.2 miles). The 112 mile bike ride will utilize a variety of Northern Nevada’s scenery including a 1,400 ft elevation drop into Carson City (56 mile option). The bike portion of the route includes a three mile climb to Spooner Lake (7,100ft elevation), followed by a thrilling downhill ride that includes a 1,400ft elevation drop into Carson. The course then goes through the pristine calmness of Washoe Valley and continues into Reno, ending at the Legends at Sparks Marina. The day ends with a long run along the Truckee River Trail finishing at the Legends at Sparks Marina (26.2 miles or 13.1 miles).
