Tigé MYWAKE Global Challenge

Wakeboarders, wakeskaters and wakesurfers compete against the rest of the world based on video footage of their riding.  Riders submit videos of themselves competing on wakeboard during June/July/August on their home turf.  Each month, judges from the Pro Wakeboard Tour will select the best riders in 20+ divisions.  Those winners are then invited to compete in the live event at the Sparks Marina.  2012 was the first year of this format and the finale was held in Orlando; about 50 finalists competed for the overall title.  The 2013 event has been expanded to include finalists in all age divisions as well as the men’s and women’s pros from around the world – 125 athletics are anticipated.   This is a made-for-media event and will be heavily promoted online.  It will also feature a live webcast and will be covered by Wakeboard Magazine – there is not a television broadcast component.  They will tentatively use JA Nugget as the event host hotel, due to World Sports & Marketing’s previous relationship with them for the Pro Wakeboard Tour.

Friday – amateurs compete

Over 300 of bowling’s greatest women players will go head to head in qualifying rounds to earn one of five coveted spots in the finals, which will be held on the evening of June 27, literally under the stars in downtown Reno. Four bowling lanes are being constructed on N. Virginia Street, with the Reno arch as the backdrop. One of these five finalists could potentially win a $1,000,000 if they bowl a perfect match!

The competition will be televised on ESPN2 next week (July 3) – see if you make it in the crowd shots!

There will be several large screens positioned along the street festival area so everyone is sure to catch the action. (There is limited reserved bleacher seating, for event sponsors and their guests.)
