Reclaimed Styrofoam robot invites visitors to create a ‘bot of their own for a chance to win prizes -
A 30-foot tall robot made of reclaimed Styrofoam was recently constructed in the lobby at the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum (The Discovery). The robot, called a “Styrobot,” invites visitors of all ages to participate in the museum’s Styrobot Challenge.
Using solely reclaimed Styrofoam packing material and glue, participants can create their own Styrobot of any shape or size in this fun, at home challenge. Entries will be judged on five criteria: creativity, personality, originality, function and stability. Entries must be delivered to The Discovery by 5:00pm on Sunday, December 15, 2013. In addition to first, second and third place prizes, there will also be a people’s choice award (first place winner receives a one-year Family Fun membership (or renewal) to The Discovery—see website for a list of other prizes).
All entries in the Styrobot Challenge will be on display at The Discovery from December 21, 2013 to January 11, 2014.
For rules, judging criteria, entry forms and more information about the Styrobot Challenge and other activities at The Discovery, visit the museum’s website at www.nvdm.org.
