Reno, NV, has been selected a top retirement destination by Where to Retire, the only magazine in America geared toward helping people with retirement relocation decisions. Reno is one of eight cities profiled in a feature titled “Cut Taxes in These 8 Towns” in the March/April issue, available nationwide on Feb. 18, 2014.
Where to Retire Editor Annette Fuller said these eight cities, including Reno, appeal to retirees who have done their research and know that taxes are among the biggest expenses they face. “One of the best reasons to relocate in retirement is to leave hefty tax burdens behind. In addition to being easy on the pocketbook, Reno offers other amenities that appeal to retirees – beautiful vistas, outdoor adventures, and cultural and social opportunities that keep retirees engaged with the community,” Fuller said.
Each year, 700,000 Americans relocate to new towns to retire. Generally, relocating retirees are healthier, better educated and more affluent than those who choose to not relocate. They bring significant economic benefits to their new states and hometowns. Nationally, two dozen states and hundreds of towns seek to attract retirees as a source of economic development.
