Our baby is only 10 months so she is not as heavy as your 2 year old. My husband carried the baby and the tent and I carried the rest. It was a good workout! I encourage you to be outdoors as much as possible with the little one, if you can't go backpacking yet, take baby hiking and camping so he/she can learn to love the outdoors! I think you're crazy for backpacking with your baby... It's tough enough carrying your own gear and food (~38lbs).. what did you do... carry your wife's gear/food and baby's food too? what about 80lbs?! We've backpacked desolation wilderness (before the baby) and the altitude was tough enough with our own pack. Well.. maybe you're much better shape than I. Nice pictures by the way..
