April is here, which means baseball, gorgeous weather, and great exhibits and events at local museums. There is so much going on this month, so hopefully this post provides some ideas of how you all can make the most of one of the most eventful months in Reno!

Maurice Sendak: 50 Years, 50 Works

Who doesn’t love the illustration of Where the Wild Things Are? The Nevada Museum of Art is currently showing an exhibit that is dedicated to the memory of Maurice Sendak, who illustrated the children’s classic and many other works of art. The exhibit closes on April 27 though, so make your way to the Museum of Art if you want to see this once-in-a-lifetime display! Click on the picture for more details!

The Discovery Museum

Would you like to learn how to build with wood? Does holding a baby duckling sound like a great time? Would you like your child to have some great hands-on building experience with trained professionals? April is a great time to visit the Discovery Museum! There is going to be a baby animal week, where visitors can play with and learn about young critters, building with wood classes, and tool exploration. This month at the Discovery is sure to captivate any young scientist or builder. There is even an adults-only social on April 25! Museum of Natural History at the University of Nevada

Imagine a place in Reno where you can view over 92,000 different species of plants, hold a taxidermy bat, and check out a tier 0ne university all at the same time. What you have imagined probably is not too far off from the new Museum of Natural History at the University of Nevada. As a combined project from the university’s biology and natural resources and environmental science programs, this collection of living and non-living species represents the discovery of life throughout the history of Northern Nevada.

Animal Ark

The famous Animal Ark opens this Tuesday April 1! The collection of rare and exotic animals at this place is epic! They have cheetahs, tigers, wolves, tortoises, coyotes, even a lynx! What is a lynx!? Find out by going to the opening of the Animal Ark season!
