As a kid living in Reno years ago, several of us used to place pennies on the tracks of the V&T to flatten them. The tracks were less than a block away from our houses.

I moved to Nevada about three years ago and I am fascinated by Nevada's history. (I always have been interested in history, but it often seems Nevada's history is close to the surface if you only travel and look around) I have several of your books and you have mentioned this area before. Where can you enter this canyon near Washoe City? I would love to see the trestles before they are gone. I liked your article on Eilley Bowers too. I'm reading "City of Illusion" by Vardis Fisher in which she is a major character. Have you read "Pioneers of the Ponderosa: A History of how Washoe Valley Rescued the Comstock"? A fascinating history by the granddaughter of one of Washoe Valley's pioneers. Do you have any more history stories of Washoe Valley?
