Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival Gone Wild!
Last night, a group of four of us went to the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival at Sand Harbor.
We arrived early so that we could all take a dip in the Lake. It was a beautiful day without a cloud in the sky. Though the water was a bit cold at first, it felt good to get out in the Lake again and swim. I swear it is the purest water you’ll ever swim in!
The actual play was entitled Comedy of Errors. None of us really knew what to expect, and were honestly hoping that the Shakespearian language wouldn’t put us to sleep.
Boy, were we surprised. Comedy of Errors basically took Shakespeare and put a whole new modern spin on it. It was a blast! The play was actually Western themed, and had modern-day pop humor references. Although the entire play was based on a real Shakespeare play and was in true Shakespearian language, it was really easy to follow and really FUNNY. I honestly didn’t expect the play to be that funny, even though the title was Comedy of Errors.
My favorite part of the play was when the cast did a breakout into Michael Jackson’s Thriller choeography. They nailed it! There was also a very gay cowboy character that was hilarious. It was nothing you’d expect to see in a Shakespeare play, but I think that was the whole point!
Unfortunately, the Lake Tahoe Shaekspeare Festival is over for the 2005 season, but definitely plan to make it a part of your summer plans next year. It is an outdoor stage on the beach of Lake Tahoe, and you’ll never find a more beautiful venue for a play! Never!
Here are a couple of pictures I took at the Festival last night.
This is my hubby and two friends that joined us for the Festival. We had just finished swimming in the Lake when this was taken.

And here is an illegal picture of the stage. Shhhh — don’t tell anyone I took this! Unfortunately, I only had my camera phone on me, so the quality is lacking anyway.
