Birthday Weekend

My weekend began promptly at 5pm on Friday, not 5:01pm but 5. My family met up with some friends at Palais de Jade where we had an amazing dinner. One of the things that I missed about Reno when I moved to Miami for a few years was the amount of excellent places to dine in a short distance from my home (most are 5-10 minutes away!). After dinner we went home and rested for the following big day, which was my daughter’s 4th birthday party at Roller Kingdom Skating Rink. On Saturday we went roller skating and I think that there was more adults that attended than children. It was too funny to see 25-55 year olds re-living their childhood at the roller rink. There was a lot of falling down and crashing into eachother but it was a lot of fun-and a good place to have a kids party because the parents are just as entertained. When the party was over we took a drive to Virginia City because I have a vehicle that seats 8-9 people and what’s the sense of owning a bus (SUV) if you can’t take the whole neighborhood. Our visit to Virginia City was to go to one of their shops that carries moccasins. They have handmade ones that are knee height and they are very stylish, like for going out. On our short ride back to Reno we stopped by Great Basin Brewery because the B—–Berry beer was finally out (only brewed 3 times a year) and because I marked this glorious day on my calendar there was no stopping me from enjoying this locally brewed cold one. We all had a bowl of their Wisconsin Beer Cheese Soup which is to die for so if you’ve been to Great Basin Brewery and you haven’t tried these two things you are missing out!! Well that was enough excitement for the weekend, I then took Sunday to recoop and prepare for the Monday blues.
